Read the story.

“Out of My Mind” is more than a painting—it is a reflection of survival, resilience, and the power of transformation. Created during my Motherhood Collection, this mixed media piece (150 x 100 cm) tells a deeply personal story of navigating postpartum trauma and finding light in the shadows.

The Artwork

At its heart, the painting features a woman—her face tilted toward the sky, seeking hope and strength. Surrounding her are sunflowers and pink roses, each holding profound symbolic meaning:

    •    Sunflowers: With their golden faces, they represent positivity, resilience, and growth. During my recovery, walks through sunflower fields became my sanctuary, reminding me that light persists, even in darkness.

    •    Pink Roses: These delicate roses symbolize fragile yet determined healing. They entwine the hair and cover the eyes—not as a veil, but as a transformation of perspective, allowing the world to be seen through beauty, hope, and rediscovery.

This painting carries the weight of my postpartum journey: the isolation of a foreign hospital during the COVID pandemic, the silent struggles that followed, and the universal truth that pain and joy often intertwine in motherhood.

Through bold strokes, layered textures, and vibrant colors, “Out of My Mind” became my way of honoring pain, reclaiming my narrative, and sharing resilience.

Fizah – The Artist Behind Manjachen

I’m the artist and founder of Manjachen, where I lovingly create unique sketches and illustrations by hand.

Originally from Malaysia, I moved to Germany as a trailing spouse. My journey of adapting to a new culture and building a life in Bavaria has deeply influenced my artistic path.

I’m a mom to two lively boys and an artist who has been using my art to connect with people and build a sense of belonging in my new home here in Germany.

Through my sketches and illustrations, I capture the moments and emotions that bring us together.
